Keith Ellison, the nation's first Muslim and Minnesota's first black elected to the U.S. Congress, will speak at the University of Minnesota Duluth Saturday.
In a speech entitled "A Unique Road to Congress," congressman-elect Ellison, 42, DFL-Minn., will discuss his political awakening and his recent campaign in Minnesota's Fifth Congressional District (which covers the Minneapolis area), as well as his views on future events.
The free, public presentation begins at noon in Bohannon Hall 90. The lecture is part of the Public Affairs Lecture Series, sponsored by the UMD Master of Advocacy and Political Leadership program.
