Today is Halloween.

Rubber Chicken Theater will re-create Orson Welles' (in)famous 1938 radio broadcast of H.G. Wells' "The War of the Worlds" at 8 p.m. on KUWS (91.3 FM). They will be recording it live from The Shack in Superior; if you wish to be a part of the "studio" audience, get there at 7:30 p.m. and have $5.

Renegade's Halloween Carnival will be held from 10:30 p.m. Saturday to 2 a.m. Sunday, Oct. 30-31. Local comedians will compete in improv games. Cost is $5.

UMD will host the 15th annual "Haunted Halls" trick-or-treating experience for area children from 5 to 7 p.m. Check in at Lake Superior Hall, 513 Niagara Court, in the lobby. Call 726-7381.

Dr. Salty will perform at 10 p.m. at Rex Bar. Cost TBA.

Similarly, UWS residence halls will hand out candy from 5 to 7 p.m. Participating halls: Crownhart, Curran-McNeill-Ostrander and Ross.

The Rice Lake Volunteer Fire Department Auxiliary will host a Halloween carnival from 5 to 7:30 p.m. at the 4051 Martin Road fire hall. Admission is one food shelf item. Game tickets are 10 cents each. Hot dogs are a quarter.
