Duluth will be host to an historic event on Monday, October 17, 2011! King Harald V and Queen Sonja of Norway will be visiting Duluth to dine with citizens, rededicate Enger Tower, and experience the beauty and rich history our city has to offer. King Harald's father, Crown Prince Olav dedicated the Tower in honor of Bert J. Enger in 1939. Now 72 years later, history is made once again and the entire community can be a part of this momentous occasion.

Schedule of Events

12:30 - Royal Luncheon, Duluth Convention Center, Harborside Ballroom (Accessible to ticket holders only)

2:00 pm - Visit to Sons of Norway - Nortun Lodge, (The public can view the arrival of their Majesties in the designated space on the east side of Lake Avenue, between Superior Street and First Street. Participants should arrive no later than 1:30 pm to secure a spot.)

1:00 - 2:30 pm - Shuttle service from Enger Golf Course to Enger Park for the rededication ceremony, no one is admitted to the Park after 2:30 pm. The last shuttle leaves the golf course at 2:30 pm.

3:00 pm - Enger Tower Rededication Ceremony (Telecast live on Northlands Newscenter, My9)

The general public will gather in the lower level park grounds. Monitors placed in the park will telecast the ceremony. The public will remain in the park until the departure of their Majesties at which time shuttle service will resume.

Show your Norwegian heritage and pride, or whatever heritage you are! Bring a Norwegian flag to the park and wave it proudly. Staff will also have a limited supply of flags to hand out.
