Brian Grand and substitute Dan Baga scored first-half goals and Wisconsin-Superior hung on to defeat host Wisconsin-Whitewater, 2-1, in a Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference tournament semifinal Wednesday.
Matt Elder made seven saves for the Yellowjackets (11-6-3), who will play at top-seeded Wisconsin-Oshkosh (15-0-4) in the championship match at 6 p.m. Friday. The Titans edged Wisconsin-Platteville, 2-1, on a goal with 28 seconds remaining in a second overtime.
Grand netted his eighth goal of the season in the 33rd minute and Baga cashed in his second in the 42nd minute.
Sam Novak halved the deficit at the 55-minute mark for the Warhawks (14-6-1).
