College men's hockey: UWS tops St. Scholastica

Wisconsin-Superior scored in all three periods and topped St. Scholastica, 4-2, in a Northern Collegiate Hockey Association game played at Duluth's Mars Lakeview Arena Saturday night.

A night after outshooting the Saints 51-28 and settling for a 4-4 tie, the Yellowjackets were outshot 27-24 but made the most of their attempts. Colton Kennedy and Joey Massingham gave UWS a 2-0 lead with goals in the first and second periods, respectively, until Jeremy Dawes scored a power-play goal for the Saints at 3:12 of the second to cut the deficit to 2-1.

But the Yellowjackets (1-0-1) put the game away with goals from Josh Kesler and Bob Roseland. Brett Corcoran tallied a power-play goal at 3:26 of the third period to complete the Saints' scoring.

Ben Waalkens stopped 25 shots for UWS, while Colin Rundell made 20 saves for the Saints (0-1-1).
