COLLEGE HOCKEY: UMD falls to Wisconsin

MADISON, Wis. -- Wisconsin rallied from an early one-goal deficit to beat Minnesota Duluth 3-1 Friday night in a Western Collegiate Hockey Association men's game before 14,144 fans at the Kohl Center.

MADISON, Wis. -- Wisconsin rallied from an early one-goal deficit to beat Minnesota Duluth 3-1 Friday night in a Western Collegiate Hockey Association men's game before 14,144 fans at the Kohl Center.

The No. 17-ranked Badgers (14-10-3 overall, 11-6-2 WCHA) got a first-period power-play goal from Michael Davies to tie the game 1-1, then got the only second-period goal midway through from center Sean Dolan. Tom Gorowsky got an empty-net goal with five seconds to play. Wisconsin is 4-1 the last five games and has played 11 of the last 13 at home.

No. 14 UMD (13-8-6, 7-7-5) led 1-0 on freshman center Jack Connolly's fourth goal in four games, 5:26 into the game. Junior goalie Alex Stalock was stellar for the Bulldogs in keeping them close throughout. The loss broke UMD's four-game win streak and leaves them 1-6-2 on the road in the WCHA this season. UMD was blanked on three power-play chances.

Senior Shane Connelly was solid in goal for Wisconsin. The Badgers led in shots on goal 29-21.
