Colder by the Lake Comedy Theatre presents "The Jack Chick Plays Vol. 1," an original production that takes a two-dimensional fundamentalist Christian comic strip and recreates it three-dimensionally at the Play Ground Theater. If it's a Colder by the Lake show about a religious comic strip, it must be satire, right? Wrong, according to director Jean Sramek. "We posed the question: What would happen if we did these as stage plays? What if we didn't parody them? We didn't spoof," she said. Sramek said the six-person cast has developed affection for the tracks. "They're kind of endearing in a weird, weird way," she said. "It's easy to make fun. We're trying to take a step away from that and present them exactly as written so people can ask their own questions."
