A 37-year-old Cloquet man died Saturday afternoon as the result of an ATV accident between Aurora and Hoyt Lakes.

Ryan Ewald was riding a four-wheeler with his wife, Amy, on the back, and attempted to climb a steep, slippery hill, near the Ranger Off-road Trail. The couple fell off the ATV, which rolled over, striking Ryan Ewald in the head about 3:20 p.m., according to a report from the St. Louis County

Sheriff's Office.

The Ewalds were riding with friends, and CPR was administered on the scene. Ryan Ewald was transported to Northern Pines Hospital in Aurora, where he died as a result of the injuries he sustained.

Amy Ewald was not seriously injured in the accident.
