A Cloquet man was formally charged with second-degree burglary Monday in connection with the Nov. 11 burglary of CornerStone State Bank in Cloquet.
Beau William Diver, 20, was arraigned before Judge Robert Macaulay in Carlton County Court. No pretrial release study was ordered, and bail was set at $75,000. Diver remains in custody in the Carlton County Jail.
Diver also appeared for a probation violation Monday in relation to a felony theft in August 2012. He pleaded guilty in that case and was serving three years' supervised probation at the time of the burglary.
Diver has been in custody since his arrest at an apartment in Cloquet on Wednesday after Cloquet police followed up on tips related to the bank burglary. Evidence believed to be worn by the suspect during the burglary was recovered at the apartment, along with money thought to be stolen from CornerStone State Bank.
The burglary was reported to police by a bank customer at 5:50 a.m. Nov. 11 after it was discovered the large plate-glass window near the bank's drive-through lane had been shattered by a brick and a rock painted with pink and white hearts and the name "Christen." An undisclosed amount of cash was taken.

Surveillance video from inside the bank showed a suspect stealing money about 3:30 a.m. The video later was made public, and police asked that anyone who recognized the rock used in the break-in or the person in the video call the police department. The rock turned out to be from a nearby yard.
Diver is slated to appear for a Rule 8 hearing in the burglary case at 9 a.m. Monday. He admitted to the probation violations during Monday's hearing and is expected to appear for a disposition on the same day.
