The Duluth Climbers Coalition will hold its Mid-Summer Climbing Rendezvous from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday at Ely’s Peak in western Duluth.
It's an opportunity for climbers of all ages and skill levels to come together for a day on the rocks. Experienced local climbers will point out trails and climbs, relate climbing history and facilitate bouldering tours. Equipment will be provided with free certified instruction for beginners.
Directions: From Duluth, drive south on I-35 to the Midway Road exit. After exiting, turn left (south) and drive 2.2 miles on Midway Road to the parking area on left (watch for cars and signs). It’s a quarter-mile hike to the climbing area. The site is a wilderness setting, without facilities.
After climbing, the event continues at Mr. D’s Bar & Grill, where food and drink will be available for purchase.
