Call of the Northland: Lefse lessons
There will be lefse making lessons at First Lutheran Church, 1100 E. Superior St., from 5 to 7 p.m. Nov. 3, 4, 6 and 7. All of the lefse made will be served at the annual lutefisk, salmon and meatball dinner Dec. 3. If you have your own equipment, bring it. To register, call 728-3668.
Gloria Dei Lutheran Church will have a holiday fair from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 8.
St. Elizabeth's Catholic Church will have a traditional sarma dinner following the 5 p.m. mass Saturday, Nov. 8. The musical liturgy during mass will be provided by the Singing Slovenes.
Volodymyr Koshuba to perform
Ukrainian organist Volodymyr Koshuba will perform classical organ music and works by Ukrainian composers at 3 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 2, at First United Methodist Church (Coppertop).
St. Mary Star of the Sea Church will offer a pancake breakfast from 8 a.m. to noon Sunday, Nov. 2. Gluten-free pancakes will be available.
Bake and craft sale
Lutheran Social Service Arrowhead Auxiliary will have its fall bake and craft sale at the Holiday Center courtyard from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Thursday.
An Appalachian sampler concert will be held at 7 p.m. Friday, Nov. 7, at Duluth Congregational Church. A $15 donation is requested and family rates are available.
Bethlehem Lutheran Church, in Twig, will have a rummage sale from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 8. Lunch and bars will be served.
French River Lutheran fall bazaar
French River Lutheran Church will have its fall bazaar from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 8, at North Shore Community School. Lunch will be served from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.
There will be a spaghetti dinner fund-raiser (proceeds go toward heating system upgrades) from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 2, at Zion Lutheran Church.
St. Benedict's Catholic Church will have its annual beef dinner from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 2. Take-out orders are available.
