Financial workshop

A free workshop for parents and their children ages 6 to 10 about money matters will be offered at 6:45 p.m. Wednesday at Concordia Lutheran Church, 2501 Woodland Ave. The workshop, presented by Nathan Caple from Thrivent Financial, will discuss values, influences, choices and responsible money habits. CHUM meets

Churches United in Ministry's annual meeting, now in its 37th year, will be held at 6:30 p.m. Thursday at Pilgrim Congregational Church, 2310 E. Fourth St. The guest speaker will be the Rev. Karen Smith Sellers of the Minnesota conference of the UCC.

Discernment retreat

Single Catholic women ages 18 to 45 interested in learning about a vocation to religious life are invited to a discernment retreat at St. Scholastica Monastery Feb. 12-14. The retreat will include informative sessions on discerning a call to religious life, the different kinds of religious communities and informal gatherings with the Sisters. There is no obligation or charge for the retreat (room and meals are provided), but registration is required by Feb. 10. Call 723-6646.

Sweets for Haiti

The Mayflower Guild of the Duluth Congregational Church, 3833 E. Superior St., is sponsoring a Valentine bake sale to take place from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 13, with the proceeds going to the earthquake victims.

Roast dinner

Trinity Lutheran Church at 1108 E. Eighth St. will host a roast beef and pork dinner from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. Thursday. Cost is $10 for adults, $5 for children 11 and younger or a ticket for a family of four is $25. Eat in or take out available. Call 724-9369.

The conference "Navigating Conflict in Faith Communities" will be held from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Thursday at Yellowjacket Union (on the UWS campus).
