First Lutheran ministry activities, Sunday, Feb. 3
The First Lutheran Church will host the adult forum "Holy Encounter" at 9:45 a.m. Sunday, Feb. 3, in the Parish Hall.
The church will have its Ash Wednesday worship service at 1 and 5:30 p.m. There will be a Lenten Agape meal following the evening service.
The Promise Preschool will have a spaghetti fund-raiser at the church from 5 to 6:30 p.m. Thursday.
Peace in Christ Lent services, Wednesday, Feb. 6

The Peace in Christ Lutheran Church in Hermantown will have a Lent service at 6:30 p.m. Ash Wednesday. There will be a soup and sandwich dinner at 5:30 p.m. the same day of the services, which will be held every Wednesday through March 12.
HEART at Wal-Mart, Saturday, Feb. 9
The Hermantown Community Church group His Earthly Angels Reflecting Truth will be at the Hermantown Wal-Mart from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 9, collecting donations from products purchased through Wal-Mart for the Safe Haven Shelter for battered women.

Rev. Dr. Peter Bagley will present chapters from his book "Everything I Need to Know I Learned in the Garden of Eden" from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. Sunday, Feb. 3, at United Protestant Church in Morgan Park.
'Garbage Omelet Breakfast', Sunday, Feb. 3
The Knights of Columbus Council 7106 of Holy Assumption Parish, 5601 Tower Ave. in Superior, will have its annual "Garbage Omelet Breakfast" from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 3.
Pancake breakfast, Sunday, Feb. 3

The St. Mary Star of the Sea Church will host a pancake breakfast from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 3. There will also be gluten-free pancakes.
McCabe Renewal Center events, Feb. 4 and 5
The McCabe Renewal Center will feature "Spiritual Literacy: Reading the Sacred in Everyday Life," a DVD series, from 7 to 9 p.m. Monday. Cost is $20.
The program "Bridges to Contemplative Living with Thomas Merton" will be held from 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at the center. It will also be held Feb. 12, 19 and 26. Cost is $20 for a session or $60 for all four sessions. For more on these events, call 724-5266.
Our Savior's Lent program, Wednesday, Feb. 6
Our Savior's Lutheran Church will begin its Lent program, which will include a soup dinner, at 6 p.m. Wednesday. It will be offered the next five Wednesdays of Lent. Following the program, the DVD series "Down & Out: Where Grace Takes You" will be shown.
