The St. Louis County Sheriff's Office reminds parents to tell their children to report suspicious advances by strangers with the onset of the school year.

The sheriff's office is investigating a suspicious incident that occurred at the Midway-Martin Road soccer field on Sept. 3. At about 7:20 p.m. that day, a green- or teal-colored van pulled up to two girls near the soccer field. The male driver, who had a white beard and was wearing a brown hat, asked the girls to come over to the van. The girls ran to their

parents and reported the incident.

The van drove away and there was no evidence of an abduction attempt nor was any force or intimidation displayed. Anyone who thinks they have information about the

incident is asked to contact the sheriff's office.
