Any possible charges against the woman driving a Chevy Blazer that crashed Monday in Bayfield County, killing her daughter, will have to wait until the Wisconsin State Patrol submits reports on the accident.
Bayfield County District Attorney Craig Haukaas said he expects to see a preliminary report today but will wait until toxicology tests come back before he decides on whether to charge 23-year-old Chelsea Cadotte.
"It's too early to tell," Haukaas said. He wouldn't comment further on the case.
The state patrol says none of the people in Cadotte's vehicle were wearing seat belts or using restraints when it left Highway 13 north of Washburn and rolled through a ditch Monday afternoon. Cadotte has a long list of cases in the Bayfield court, including three seatbelt violations, the last one two months ago.
Cadotte's 2-year-old daughter, Mariah Gordon, was killed. She was one of four passengers who were ejected from the SUV. Cadotte remained in the car and suffered few injuries. She has since been released from Essentia Health St. Mary's Medical Center in Duluth.

Myley Gordon, 4, remains in critical condition, hospital spokeswoman Kim Kaiser said. Carter Gordon, 6, Cadotte's third child in the car, was in fair condition Thursday. Cadotte's sister, Erica Gonzales, 15, was also in fair condition.
