When I was asked to write about what I thought Duluth's new high school names, mascots and colors should be, I thought, what a great opportunity. Maybe the Duluth Central Trojans can live on in another school.
But as I started brainstorming and hearing others' opinions, my opinion started to change. Socializing with fellow students and having some laughs, we really got to talking about it. That's when my opinion really changed.
We put ourselves in Duluth East's and Denfeld's positions, and, at first, we were thinking we wanted them to change their colors, names, mascots and traditions. But after a while I could understand why they have been fighting so hard to keep their schools the same.
I'm doing the same for my school but with one difference. I'm fighting to keep my school from being gone forever.
In the end, I don't want to take away anyone else's schools and traditions -- but I don't want to lose mine, either.

Central students know how it feels. All of our traditions, everything is being taken away from us.
I think Duluth East's and Duluth Denfeld's colors, mascots and traditions should stay the same.
Central is being forced into the dark. East and Denfeld are doing nothing to cause that. Therefore, we at Central should not want to take away from the other high schools if they are not taking away from us.
