A longtime Carlton County employee has been arrested on theft charges, according to Sheriff Kelly Lake.
The employee was taken into custody Thursday afternoon on charges of felony theft by swindle and theft of public funds stemming from a complaint received at her workplace. The woman has worked for the county since 1984, according to a news release.
The arrest resulted from investigation by the Carlton County Sheriff's Office and the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension with assistance from the Internal Revenue Service and the Cloquet Police Department.
The employee is scheduled for arraignment Friday.
