Car theft suspect arrested after Carlton County chase

A 27-year-old Duluth man is being held on several preliminary charges after leading several law enforcement agencies on a chase as he drove a stolen car Tuesday night.

A 27-year-old Duluth man is being held on several preliminary charges after leading several law enforcement agencies on a chase as he drove a stolen car Tuesday night.

The Carlton County Sheriff's Office said it was reported about 2 p.m. Tuesday that a vehicle had been stolen in Duluth and a Department of Natural Resources conservation officer spotted the vehicle being driven on Interstate 35 toward state Highway 210 in Carlton.

Carlton County deputies located the vehicle and attempted to stop it as it continued to travel west on Highway 210 in Twin Lakes Township. The Minnesota State Patrol, Fond du Lac Tribal Police Department, Thomson/Esko police and Cloquet police all assisted in the incident.

The suspect was stopped on Highway 210 near I-35. He was taken into custody on preliminary charges of being in possession of a stolen vehicle, fleeing police in a motor vehicle, possession of drug paraphernalia and driving after suspension.
