On our city's 150th birthday, the contents of a time capsule saw daylight for the first time in half a century. What we discovered was that Duluthians from 50 years earlier bestowed on us the "privilege and responsibility of keeping Duluth an ever-growing, ever-prosperous city," as a letter in the capsule read.
Unfortunately, our leaders have failed to live up to those obligations.
I have watched Duluth politicians hit the campaign trail with inspiring promises and with extraordinary goals of a better tomorrow for our citizens. Yet all I have seen delivered are retread ideas with the same woeful results. We have been witness to the slow decay of a once-
flourishing city. Duluth is an extraordinary place that has the capability of being a leader in Minnesota and this country; but with the current representation stifling economic growth and job creation, our potential is hindered.
I feel compelled to stand up for what I know can be Minnesota's figurative, and literal, shining city on a hill in declaring my candidacy for Duluth's seat in the Minnesota Senate. It's not enough to stand idly by, watching our great city sit stagnant while ignoring everything it can be. We have been held back by the narrow worldview of our elected officials who seem unwilling to try a new approach or move in a different direction.

It is our duty and obligation to provide enough opportunity to keep our best and brightest and to provide for our working-class families. If we continue to entrust the same people with the same ideas and the same rigid ideology, we seal our fate and guarantee the same results.
This November, I challenge you to join me in moving Duluth, and Minnesota, in a better direction.
