I am excited and honored to represent St. Louis County, a remarkable place to live. From the port of Duluth to the wilderness of the Boundary Waters and from our top-tier hospitals and clinics to our Iron Range mines, the beauty and energy of our lands and communities are without compare. The last three years as 1st District county commissioner have reinforced my belief in how important county government is in promoting the health, safety and natural resources of its citizens.

My vision for St. Louis County and my personal commitment continues. I will:

- Be a thoughtful and careful steward of the environment for present and future generations.

- Value all citizens and ensure that services are available to meet their needs.

- Support effective public safety so community members can live freely and safely in their homes and communities while ensuring all citizens receive equal treatment under the law.

- See that the county is financially stable and that we support job growth, living wages and sustainable development.

- Look for creative and innovative solutions wherever possible.

As people choose to move back here to live, buy a house, raise a family or build a business, I look forward to supporting their creative efforts, and all of our citizens, by making St. Louis County the very best place to be.

I encourage you to get out and vote on Nov. 4.

Over the years I saw the need for new and better housing in Duluth. I was appointed to the Duluth Housing Authority by Mayor Ness, first as a board member, then chairman for three years. I worked hard and was dedicated to bring San Marco, Matterhorn, Harbor Highlands, Village Place, MACV, Firehouse Flats and Gimaajii into reality.

I know how hard it is to pinch the pennies to stay within a budget. The citizens of St. Louis County cannot continue to give up their income to balance an ever-growing budget. The county needs to work within its current budget.

I served in the Air Force and the Air National Guard for 22 years. I am a proud member of the Minnesota Patriot Guard. Being a disabled veteran myself, I would be strong advocate for the veteran community in the county.

If nonferrous mining companies can meet all the standards set forth by the nine state, federal and tribal regulatory bodies, I believe we need to allow them to operate. It’s the duty and responsibility of the federal, state and tribal regulatory bodies to protect the public and we need to trust in these agencies.

I am the best candidate to represent the entire first district, not just a few select special-interest groups. I will not only be a strong voice for the most vulnerable, the elderly and the veterans, I will be a strong voice for all. I have a proven track record of being present at meetings and working with others for the betterment of our community. I believe in service to our community. I want to continue to serve our community as your county commissioner. I ask for your support and your vote on Nov. 4.
