A free training on cancer prevention and early detection is scheduled for 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 2.
Instructors are Gay Lynn Richards, RN MPH and Elizabeth Wilson-Lopp of the Minnesota Department of Health. Richards will talk about cancer and the importance of mammography and colorectal screenings. She is the regional coordinator for the Sage Program, which pays for mammograms and Pap tests for women who are uninsured or underinsured.
Wilson-Lopp will share Motivational Interviewing techniques. Participants will receive flip charts to aid them in promoting cancer screenings. The training meets the criteria for the Minnesota Board of Nursing for 6.9 contact hours.
