The City of Duluth is seeking entries in a special contest. The entries will be added to the city's next time capsule, which will be buried soon and not opened for 50 years.
The contest asks people to make a prediction about the world 50 years hence, answering this question: "Assuming fossil fuels are still utilized as a primary means for transportation in the year 2056, what will the average nationwide price for one gallon of unleaded premium gasoline be at that time?"
The question came from Scott Cameron of Duluth, who submitted the question this summer.
Fifty years from now, the person whose answer is the closest to the actual number will receive a United States Savings Bond. Information on the bond will be buried with the time capsule.
Entries will be accepted at Mayor Bergson's office through Nov. 2. Or they may be e-mailed to Communications Manager Jeff Papas at jpapas@duluthmn.gov . Entries should contain full name and contact information for the entrant.
