The Duluth City Council will vote next week on a controversial street improvement program for a five-block section of 46th Avenue West. The $109,900 project is opposed by some residents who contend it will create traffic problems and lower property values.

Kitty Carlisle talked about her life yesterday in an hourlong appearance for the Women's Institute series in the Duluth Auditorium. Miss Carlisle is best known as a longtime panelist on the TV game show "To Tell the Truth." May 9, 1989

At its first meeting yesterday, the Duluth Economic Development Authority was briefed by city staff on potential residential and commercial projects. As its first order of business, the group elected City Council President Joyce Benson authority president.

Duluth's Greater Downtown Council and Miller Hill Mall are making a joint effort to lure shoppers next weekend from Thunder Bay, Ontario. The businesses have sponsored a radio and newspaper advertising campaign that is running in Thunder Bay this week.
