* The trial in a lawsuit to ban logging in the Boundary Waters Canoe Area began in Minnesota Federal District Court yesterday. Logging in the million-acre wilderness was temporarily banned in September by Federal District Judge Miles Lord pending outcome of the trial.
* The Duluth City Council yesterday unanimously approved a resolution urging Congress to extend the federal general revenue-sharing program beyond its scheduled expiration in 1976. Since its inception, the program has given Duluth almost $4 million to help pay for government operations.
