News Tribune, Nov. 6, 1974 * With all 17 precincts counted, Deidre Dodge has unofficially defeated Peter Sneve in the race for 2nd District St. Louis County commissioner. Mrs. Dodge, a housewife, contended during the campaign that she, unlike Sneve, would work full time as a commissioner.
* The city of Duluth wants women to serve on the cityâs four major citizen boards, which now have 27 males but only two females. The boards are the Airport Authority, Arena-Auditorium Administrative Board, Seaway Port Authority and Spirit Mountain Recreation Area Authority.
News Tribune, Nov. 6, 1994 * The St. Louis County Historical Society is launching a campaign to raise $30,000 for a Vietnam Veterans Archival and Artifact Collection/Preservation project. The society is seeking artifacts and personal papers from area veterans of the Vietnam War era.
* Hovland dogsledder Lonnie Dupre leaves this week to join a six-person expedition that will travel 4,500 miles across the Siberian arctic. The dogsled expedition is only part of a 10,000-mile trek from the 1994 Winter Olympics site to the 1998 Winter Olympics in Japan.
