Convicted murderer Roger Caldwell said yesterday his wife Marjorie was not involved in the June 1977 slayings of her heiress mother and her nurse. Caldwell, who was convicted of the murders July 8, also maintains he is innocent.
Vandals toppled 82 headstones in Duluth's Park Hill Cemetery on Vermilion Road above Woodland Avenue last night, causing damage estimated at thousands of dollars. It's the third time this summer that a Duluth cemetery has been desecrated.

A Duluth judge has dismissed a lawsuit brought by Lower Chester residents that sought to stop planning of a new Women's Coalition shelter in the neighborhood. In their suit, the seven residents claimed the shelter would take away green space and increase traffic.

The cruise ship Columbus will make a return visit to Duluth this week, bringing 420 German tourists. Last October, an estimated 20,000 people turned out to see the ship when it docked near the Duluth Entertainment Convention Center.
