  • Superior city councilmen yesterday abandoned the concept of participating in a regional sewage treatment program with Minnesota communities and industries of the St. Louis River Basin. Instead, they agreed to construct secondary sewage treatment facilities to augment the existing Superior plant.
  • Gov. Wendell Anderson yesterday approved engineers' documentation supporting applications for about 75 percent of rain damage from severe storms in Duluth Aug. 16 and 20. The money is to be used to repair streets and other damage before the coming of winter.

  • Beginning tomorrow, the Minnesota Department of Transportation will close I-35 from Lake Avenue to 10th Avenue East to begin construction on the last phase of the I-35 extension project. The entire $200 million project will be completed in late October.
  • Michael Feldman hosted his "Whad'Ya Know?" radio program yesterday live from the University of Wisconsin-Superior. Feldman told a near-capacity studio audience of 700 at Thorpe Langley Auditorium that he wanted to bridge the gap between Superior and Duluth.
