  • Minnesota Department of Natural Resources officials are urging snowmobile owners and users to make sure they are aware of the significant changes in snowmobile laws enacted by the 1971 Minnesota Legislature. The changes became effective July 1.
  • Five divisions will hold kickoff meetings this week for the annual United Way of Greater Duluth fundraising drive, scheduled for Oct. 4-29. The drive has a quota of $992,915, or 23.9 percent more than the amount raised in 1970. News Tribune

  • Great Lakes Airlines officials said yesterday the company will establish a counter at the Duluth International Airport next week. The airline will then begin three daily round-trip flights between Duluth and Chicago's O'Hare International Airport.
