  • Duluth City Clerk Howard Wold said yesterday he expects about 26,000 voters to go to the polls in today's primary election. Wold said a 26,000 turnout would represent about half of those registered to vote.
  • Hermantown teachers last night voted to withhold extracurricular services starting today as a bargaining weapon in their contract dispute with the Board of Education. The action covers such activities as athletics, dramatics, speech and musical functions outside the normal day. Sept. 15, 1990

  • Vietnam veterans gathered last night to honor men listed as missing in action and as prisoners of war during a ceremony that began a 24-hour vigil. Local and state politicians also attended the event, held at the Duluth Civic Center.
  • The federal government filed suit this week against the city of Duluth for removing anti-pollution devices from city vehicles. The devices were removed when the city converted vehicles to propane to save money on gasoline, city officials said.
