An armed robber threw a cup of liquid chemical at an armored car courier in the Duluth Target store yesterday and escaped with a bag of deposits. After grabbing the bag, the thief ran to the rear of the store and left through an employee exit.

Two rate increases totaling 12 percent could be in store for Duluth natural gas users in the next three months. The increases from Northern Natural Gas Co., if approved by the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission, will be passed on to customers.

Officials of ScanHealth Inc. yesterday signed a letter of intent to locate in the Duluth Technology Village when it is completed. ScanHealth is a Duluth company that sells software to help home health-care businesses collect and manage data.

After nearly a week of freedom, Mel the kangaroo was captured yesterday and safely returned to his home at the Lake Superior Zoo. The three-year-old kangaroo was found grazing at the Oneota Cemetery in West Duluth about two miles from the zoo.
