Members of the Duluth Transit Authority told the City Council yesterday that they have selected American Transportation Enterprises Inc. of Omaha, Neb., to manage Duluth's municipal transit system. The council will vote on confirming the choice next week.

Mrs. Margaret Hafner of Duluth will celebrate her 103rd birthday today with a party at Lakeshore Lutheran Home. Mrs. Hafner moved to Duluth with her husband, Arthur, 50 years ago and resided for many years at 4124 Minnesota Ave. News Tribune

Boise Cascade officials said yesterday they are bolstering the private security force at their International Falls plant and will do whatever they can to stop any future incidents like last weekend's riot, which destroyed a temporary housing unit.

The Benedictine Health Center in Duluth is marking the opening of a new unit today with a ribbon-cutting ceremony. The unit was created to meet the needs of a growing number of residents with Alzheimer's disease and related memory-loss illnesses.
