A Duluth District Court ruling yesterday ended Thomas Agnew's efforts to overturn the results of the St. Louis County Attorney's primary race. Judge Jack Litman ruled there had been no fraud in handling of absentee ballots and dismissed Agnew's motion challenging the votes.

About 60 Lakeside parents met last night with Duluth school administrators to suggest alternatives to the closing of Lakeside Elementary School. Despite its large enrollment, Lakeside is being considered for closing because of its age and condition, administrators said.

Oct. 6, 1998

Judge Terry Hallenback yesterday ruled that Duluth's Old Downtown should be considered a historic resource, but that five of its decaying buildings can be demolished. Developers can start knocking down the buildings later this week to make way for the Technology Village.

Superior city leaders envision the city in 2018 in a new comprehensive plan proposed to guide development and land use. The plan projects a growing community of 38,000 residents, townhouses overlooking Hog Island, and a retirement community and golf course on Clough Island.
