A desegregation plan that would close two Duluth elementary schools and combine 10 present school neighborhoods into three larger neighborhoods was advanced yesterday by the Duluth Board of Education's Equal Education Opportunity Committee.

Plans for a proposed extension to the Superior-Cloquet water line that would provide water to Carlton, Esko, Jay Cooke State Park and surrounding townships were announced yesterday by state and local officials meeting in Cloquet. News Tribune

The leader of a group trying to keep Hibbing's Androy Hotel from the wrecking ball said yesterday that 10 people have inquired about developing the vacant Iron Range landmark. Proposed uses for the building include retail stores, restaurants and rental units.
