- A recent spot check indicated that Duluth service stations have more gasoline than they should need over the Memorial Day weekend. The Minnesota Automobile Association reports average prices around the state of $1.276 a gallon for regular and $1.318 for unleaded at full-service stations.
- Lawyers in the tenants' lawsuit against Highland Mobile Home Park wrapped up their cases yesterday in Duluth District Court. Some residents have been given eviction notices, attorneys said, not as retaliation but because the owner has plans to develop the park property.

- A recent News Tribune poll on Duluth's proposed smoking ban found 90% agreed with the statement that secondhand smoke is very harmful or somewhat harmful. But 58% disagreed with legislative attempts to curb smoking in public places.
- Four natives of Duluth's Little Italy neighborhood around Point of Rocks are working on a reunion planned for this summer. The reunion would be open to their childhood friends and anyone who attended the former Emerson School or played on Observation Playground.
