  • A plan for the physical rehabilitation of West Duluth and establishment of an industrial park there received general approval last night from the Interim West Duluth Project Area Committee. Building the park would require the razing of an estimated 60 buildings.
  • A proposed new terminal and other modifications at the Duluth International Airport would cost an estimated $4,952,500, a study on airport needs disclosed yesterday. The new terminal would be constructed about a half-mile southeast of the existing facility. March 4, 1989

  • Minnesota Power has agreed to sell its Universal Telephone unit to Century Telephone Enterprises of Louisiana for $90 million. Universal Telephone Inc. operates in Wisconsin and four western states and has interests in cellular mobile telephone systems in four metropolitan markets.
  • Carl Seehus, a 19-year veteran of Duluth's Parks and Recreation Department, has been selected by Mayor John Fedo to serve as the department's acting director. Seehus replaces Jim McCord, who resigned at the end of February.
