The first-degree murder trial of Roger Sipe Caldwell will begin April 10 at the Crow Wing County Courthouse in Brainerd. Citing potentially prejudicial publicity for a trial in Duluth, Judge Jack Litman yesterday granted the defense motion for a change of venue.

Duluth City Councilor Thomas Agnew yesterday asked the city council to fire Housing and Redevelopment Authority President Richard Humes. Agnew had earlier called for the dismissal of Duluth Assessor John Westin for allegedly misusing his office.

Six Duluth convenience stores have been ordered not to sell any cigarettes on Thursday, April 16, as punishment for being caught selling cigarettes to minors. A special city hearing yesterday determined workers at the stores had sold cigarettes to minors.

The Duluth City Council yesterday voted 8-1 to spend approximately $306,000 to begin acquiring property along East First Street just east of Lake Avenue. The city plans to build a parking ramp there for the proposed Duluth Technology Village.
