  • U.S. District Judge Miles Lord has set April 10 to hear arguments on a motion by Reserve Mining Co. to delay proceedings in a federal suit charging the company with pollution. Judge Lord will hear the motion in the U.S. Courthouse in Duluth.
  • The Duluth Housing and Redevelopment Authority yesterday approved an application for 500 more units of public housing for low-income elderly people. Authority commissioners will ask the Department of Housing and Urban Development to reserve 500 units for Duluth.

  • Gov. Arne Carlson signed an executive order yesterday that allows the state finance commissioner to issue bonds for the state's $759 million incentives package for Northwest Airlines. Construction of the maintenance base in Duluth could start anytime.
  • The Army Reserve's 367th Engineer Battalion, which has companies in Duluth and International Falls, will be among the military units eliminated in 1993, it was announced this week. The battalion includes 145 members in Duluth and 90 in International Falls.
