  • Duluth School Board Treasurer James Harper told the Duluth legislative delegation yesterday that the city's public schools are bankrupt and might not open next fall unless additional state aids are made available or the Board is given expanded taxing power. News Tribune

  • A fire in Hayward early yesterday destroyed the lumber warehouse of Five States Merchandising, according to officials from the Sawyer County Sheriff's Department. About 200,000 gallons of water was required to extinguish the fire, it was reported.
