Duluth City Councilman Leo M. McDonnell charged last night that the Arena-Auditorium Administrative Board acted improperly when it agreed to lease land adjacent to the Arena to Drill's Marina Inc. for development of a marina.

Jerry Music, a former Duluthian, is a member of the Smothers Brothers writing team that received a television Emmy Award this weekend. Music, who graduated from UMD, has written for the Smothers Brothers for two years. June 10, 1989

DFL Senate candidate Paul Wellstone pledged at a news conference at the Duluth Labor Center on London Road yesterday that he will not take any money from political action committees from outside Minnesota. Wellstone is running against Sen. Rudy Boschwitz.

Dramatic changes in the Soviet Union's government and people were evident to three Duluthians who recently revisited that country as part of the Sister Cities program. Tom Morgan, Neill Atkins and Brooks Anderson returned to Duluth last week.
