  • A citywide project of stenciling house numbers on street curbing in Duluth is being launched today by the Summer Services Department of the National Alliance of Businessmen. The stenciling will continue throughout most of the summer.
  • Duluth repair shops of Burlington Northern Inc. will be moved to Superior on July 7, railroad officials announced yesterday. The move will include the roundhouse facilities now at Garfield Avenue and Railroad Street. News Tribune

  • Eleven people apparently bound for the Rainbow Family gathering were arrested on drug-possession charges this weekend at a Minnesota State Patrol checkpoint near Lutsen. An estimated 60 State Patrol cars lined Highway 61 to conduct roadside vehicle and safety checks.
  • Superior Water, Light and Power Co. is asking for an increase in its retail electric, gas and water rates. A company news release said the total increase would average about 3.36 percent over current rates.
