- City of Duluth gas customers can expect to pay higher prices for their fuel by late next month or early April, according to Samuel Fedo, head of the city Gas Division. The increase is expected to be in excess of 20 percent.
- The American Friends of the Christian Radich has been formed in Duluth to raise $60,000 for the tall-masted sailing ship that visited Duluth last fall. The money is needed to repair damage to the ship that occurred in a North Atlantic hurricane.

- The Blandin Foundation announced yesterday it is giving Grand Rapids public schools a $1 million grant for the 1997-98 school year for planning and technology. Grand Rapids voters turned down four school bond referendums in 1993 and 1994.
- Superior Water Light and Power Co. officials want to spend $1.6 million to extend a natural gas line to Solon Springs. Some propane and fuel oil dealers are fighting the plan, questioning whether Superior customers will be subsidizing the project.
