An investment of $12 million to $15 million in a propane and butane tank farm in Superior was proposed yesterday by Koch Industries of Kansas. The plan includes construction of seven large storage tanks and a pipeline to the Twin Cities.

Public opposition to the planned closing of five elementary schools was considered to be relatively mild at a meeting of the Duluth School Board last night. Some speakers questioned the additional costs of busing and remodeling in implementing the plan. News Tribune, Feb. 14, 1993

Riki McManus, local casting director for the movie "Iron Will," needs to find hundreds of people to work as extras on the film. The movie's final scene alone, scheduled to be filmed March 1-3 in Two Harbors, will require 1,250 extras.

Many Minnesota legislators are refusing daily expense payments for a recent recess and weekend during which 71 lawmakers were treated to a free ski trip by the Duluth Area Chamber of Commerce.
