Arthur W. King, president of Woodruff Lumber Co. at 350 Garfield Ave., has announced the firm will close its doors at the end of the month. King is the great nephew of Charles B. Woodruff, who founded the business in 1884.

The Minnesota Conservation Department yesterday explained its proposed new rules for the Boundary Waters Canoe Area and heard strong

arguments for and against the regulations at a lengthy public hearing at the St. Louis County Courthouse in Duluth.

Fingerhut, one of Minnesota's largest corporations, is expected to announce today that it will open a telemarketing operation in Eveleth next year that will employ 150 to 200 workers. Fingerhut officials have scheduled a news conference in Eveleth this morning.

Sale of the main YWCA building in Duluth to Center City Housing Corp. is nearing completion. The Duluth Housing and Redevelopment Authority has agreed to lend Center City $150,000 to help finance the purchase.
