  • A tentative proposal to build a Personal Rapid Transit monorail system in the city was outlined yesterday in Duluth. Members of a University of Minnesota Task Force said the 90-mile monorail project would cost about $150 million.
  • Capt. James Crassweller of Duluth, stationed at Tyndall Air Force Base in Florida, is one of two defense attorneys for M. Sgt. Walter Perkins, being tried on an alleged attempt to pass secret documents to Soviet agents.

  • About 70 members of the Lake Minnesuing Homeowners Association are criticizing the clear-cutting of trees near the lake in Wisconsin's Brule River State Forest. Of particular concern are 200 acres along the southern shore of the lake.
