  • Gov. Harold LeVander said yesterday he will declare St. Louis and Cass counties disaster areas, eligible for state aid to help clean up after tornadoes swept through the area two days ago. Damage estimates are rising toward six-digit figures.
  • The Douglas County Sheriff's Office has received intelligence reports that motorcycle gangs will be converging on the Solon Springs, Gordon and Wascott areas, possibly as early as this weekend. Gang members from Milwaukee, Chicago, Minneapolis and California are expected. News Tribune
