April 25, 1978 Despite a final appeal by senior citizens, the Duluth City Council last night failed to support a resolution to save the Med-A-Van ambulance service. It now appears Med-A-Van will cease operating June 30 as ordered last year by Minnesota Health Commissioner Dr. Warren Lawson.
The Duluth Area Slow Pitch Association is working to reinstate the three Park Point softball diamonds for slow pitch league and tournament play. The association will present its proposal at the May 1 meeting of the Parks and Recreation Department Board.

The experiment changing Duluth's 21st Avenue East into two lanes with a turn lane has been successful, Public Works Director Dick Larson said yesterday. Larson said the new setup worked well this winter and will remain in place for the foreseeable future.
Opportunities abound next week to experience Duluth's past. The inaugural "Duluth YesterDays" is a five-day celebration of the city's history featuring tours of historic homes, Victorian teas, special train rides, turn-of-the-century dining, and trolley tours of historic architecture.
