Instead of getting a dog to eat their homework, two boys in the Lincoln Park neighborhood of Duluth reportedly set theirs on fire Tuesday afternoon.

The boys, who are both younger than 10, stuffed homework papers into the branches of a large bush in one of their yards on the 2700 block of Wellington Street, said Assistant Fire Chief Richard Mattson. By the time a neighbor noticed, flames from the bush were three feet high.

Firefighters were able to put out the fire, which was contained to the bush.

Both boys will be referred to the juvenile fire setter class, which provides educational intervention through the Duluth Fire Department, Mattson said.
