MINNEAPOLIS -- The skull of a Bemidji teenager who was murdered in 1977 has turned up in the belongings of a former assistant Hennepin County examiner.

Ricky McGuire was a high school senior when he was killed. Pathologist Kenneth Osterberg performed an autopsy on the body, which was returned in a closed casket.

But last summer, Osterberg's daughter Marin Kopper found the skulls at her late father's home near Mentor. Hennepin County medical examiner Andrew baker says his office is trying to determine why Osterberg kept the skulls.

McGuire's sister, Pam Sanders, says nobody had permission to keep any part of her brother's body.
