MADISON -- Minnesota Duluth ended top-ranked Wisconsin's 26-game unbeaten streak, shutting out the Badgers 2-0 in a Western Collegiate Hockey Association game Friday in front of 1,191 fans at the Kohl Center.

The Bulldogs (9-3-1, 9-3-1 WCHA) finish the series with the Badgers (13-1-1, 11-1-1) at 2:07 p.m. today.

No. 10 UMD's Kim Martin had 25 saves for her third shutout. The Swedish freshman missed last weekend's series with an injury incurred at the Four Nations Cup in Kitchner, Ontario, two weeks ago. Martin is also slated to start today's game.

It was the first time Wisconsin had been held scoreless since a 1-0 loss to St. Cloud State on Feb 4.

"Both teams looked good," UMD coach Shannon Miller said in a telephone interview. "It was end-to-end hockey. Both teams didn't take a lot of chances."

Forward Jessica Koizumi scored the game-winning goal on a power play at 1:32 of the second period.

Miller said after outshooting Minnesota State-Mankato and eventually losing last weekend, the Bulldogs spent practices working on screening a hot goalie. On Friday, defender Myriam Trepanier put the puck on net, Noemie Marin got off a shot and then Koizumi knocked in the rebound.

Miller said she asked the third line to leave the game plus-one and then Karine Demeule added another, scoring on a wraparound at 9:58.

Jessie Vetter had 17 saves for the Badgers, the defending national champions.

The teams combined for seven penalties in a game that lasted just 1 hour, 53 minutes.

The game marked the return of UMD senior forward Michaela Lanzl, who had been sidelined since suffering a concussion against St. Cloud State on Oct. 27.
