What has more than 25,000 square feet of carnival attractions, a petting zoo, caricatures and a magician? The 15th annual FunFest, Saturday and Sunday at the Duluth Entertainment Convention Center. There also will be exhibits from the Duluth Fire Department, D.A.R.E., Duluth Public Library's special reading programs, Masonic Kids ID program, the YMCA, Great Lakes Aquarium, Edgewater Resort and BragGame Rights.
The carnival is open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday. Admission is $4.
Eight days of art in Virginia
The eight-day Range of the Arts festival begins Saturday with Arts International at the Historic Kalevala Hall in Virginia. It includes a reading by Duluth's poet laureate Jim Johnson and a reading and signing by Aaron Brown, author of "Overburden: Modern Life on the Iron Range." There will be music by Gichigami Trio and the Finnish dance hall band Ameriikan Poijat. The sixth-annual event is sponsored by the Lyric Center for the Arts. In search of locally made videos for Homegrown

Imagine Tawny Kitaen writhing on the hood of a car while the song "Weird" by Equal Xchange plays. Now is your chance to make it happen. This year's Homegrown Music Festival will include locally produced music videos for songs by local bands.
Videographers have 48 hours to create a video for a song that will be randomly assigned during a meet-up at6 p.m. at Beaner's Central on April 24. The completed project must be turned in to Pizza Luce by Sunday, April 26. Contact annie@freerangefilm.com for more information.
